Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia traveled to Milledgeville Tuesday afternoon to take on Georgia College in a weekday game before returning to Gulf South Conference action this weekend at West Alabama. The Wolves rallied from an early deficit, but fell just short, 10-9 to the Bobcats.

Ashley Claxton started the game for the Wolves, but the Bobcats came out of the gate hot, scoring three runs off of four hits and three walks in the first two innings. West Georgia showed their resilience in the top of third inning, however, scoring four runs in the top of the third inning and taking the lead.

Cameron Eison started the big inning for UWG after a one-out single to the Bobcat shortstop. Shaquille Jackson then singled down the right field line, moving Eison to third base. Sumner McWhorter then came up almost duplicated Jackson's at bat by placing the ball down the left field line, and scoring Eison to give the Wolves their first run of the game. After two wild pitches, Jackson came into score and McWhorter moved over to third.

Freshman JoJo Underwood then stepped up to the plate, picking up his first of three RBI on the evening with a double down the left field line. Underwood eventually came into score when Casey James singled to third base, giving the Wolves a 4-3 lead.

Things continued to go West Georgia's way in the top of the fourth inning as they scored three more runs lengthening their lead to 7-3.

The inning started in a bizarre fashion as Jake Shirley reached first on a swinging strike three, however the ball got away from the catcher so Shirley was able to get on first base. Fast forwarding a few plays later, McWhorter came up with bases loaded and two outs and picked up a RBI on a walk. Underwood then followed him with a big two out single that scored Troy Brown and Jackson.

The big downfall in the game for the Wolves came in the bottom of the fourth inning as the Bobcats erupted for six runs. The fifth and six runs came off a big two run home run from Bobcat's third baseman Mike McGraw that gave Georgia College a 9-7 lead.

UWG headed into the top of the ninth with down 10-8, but they put an exciting inning together. Shirley led off with a double to left field. Harrison Waller then came up and walked on a 3-2 count that put runners on first and second with no one out. Andrew Witte then pinch hit for Eison and managed to get on baseball off a well-placed bunt, setting up bases loaded with nobody out.

Jackson then picked up a RBI after a sacrifice fly to right field that made then game 10-9 after Shirley tagged up. There were then runners on the corners with one out when Brown laid down a sneaky bunt attempt, but the Bobcat's pitcher fielded it cleanly and Georgia College was able to tag out Harrison Waller making the final score of the game 10-9.
