Yellow Jackets Host Wolves in Atlanta

11/22/2025 10:18:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga- The stage is set for a thrilling in-state matchup this Sunday, November 23, as the UWG Wolves (4-2) travel to Atlanta to take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (4-1) inside McCamish Pavilion at 2 p.m. The Wolves enter the contest riding a three-game winning streak, their longest of the Division I era, after a 72-64 victory over USC Upstate. Georgia Tech remains unbeaten at home at 4-0 after narrowly defeating Georgia Southern 68-66.

UWG comes into the matchup with one of the most productive frontcourts in the ASUN. Shelton Williams-Dryden is on a streak of three consecutive double-doubles, including an impressive 22-point, 17-rebound performance against USC Upstate, and was a perfect 6-for-6 at the free throw line. Through six games, Williams-Dryden sits third in the ASUN in scoring at 18.7 points per game and second in rebounding at 10.2 boards per contest. Another member of the Wolves frontcourt is JaVar Daniel, who posted a double-double of his own with 10 points and 11 rebounds while shooting 67 percent from the floor and 100 percent from the line against Upstate.

Kolten Griffin, who played his 100th career game in the win over USC Upstate, impacted the game in every way possible, recording 10 points, six rebounds, five assists, and a team-high three steals, and ranks third in the ASUN in steals per game at 1.7. Josh Smith had his first career start in the Wolves last game, exploding for 18 second-half points and now ranking fifth in the ASUN in scoring at 16.2 points per game. On the defensive end, rim protector Kenneth Chime has continued his impressive start, swatting two more shots against USC Upstate and is second in the ASUN in blocks per game at 2.3, anchoring UWG's defense.

In Georgia Tech's last game three Yellow Jackets scored double figures. Baye Ndongo recorded 20 points and 10 rebounds to earn his 20th double-double of his career. Mouhamed Sylla has earned his fourth double-double of the season with 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds, and became the first Tech freshman to post four double-doubles in his first four home games.

Off the bench, guard Akai Fleming has provided instant offense, reaching double figures for the third time in five career games with 10 points in Tech's most recent contest. Defensively, Georgia Tech has been elite to start the season, as they are limiting opponents to 34 percent shooting from the field and just 24 percent from three-point range.

In last season's matchup against Georgia Tech, returners Shelton Williams-Dryden and Kolten Griffin led the way for the Wolves, as Williams-Dryden finished with 13 points and five rebounds while Griffin added 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two blocks. With added size and depth across the roster this season, the Wolves will look to make a statement in this year's game against the Yellow Jackets.

Statistically, UWG comes into the matchup averaging 78 points per game to Georgia Tech's 71, while shooting 46 percent from the field compared to Tech's 41 percent. From beyond the arc, the Wolves have been particularly dangerous, knocking down 41 percent of their three-point attempts and the Yellow Jackets are shooting 31 percent. On the glass, the teams are evenly matched with both averaging 38 rebounds per game, while Georgia Tech holds a slight edge in ball movement at 15 assists per game to UWG's 13. Both teams protect the rim at a high level, each averaging six blocks per game.

The Wolves and Yellow Jackets tip off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23, inside McCamish Pavilion. Streaming and live stat links are available at the top of the page.
