CARROLLTON, Ga. - Riding a pair of back-to-back home wins, the UWG women's basketball is back on the road this weekend, traveling to South Carolina State for a 4 p.m. game on Sunday, December 7.
West Georgia (4-2) most recently knocked off UNC Wilmington and now looks to win a third straight for the third time in the Division I era. To do that, they'll have to knock off South Carolina State (2-8) who has dropped eight consecutive games, most recently to High Point early on Friday.
Last time out, UWG scored 83 points in a win, and had two players with 20-plus points: Asia Donald with 23 and Sydne Tolbert with 20. Jasmine Jones had 17 in the win and led the Wolves in assists with five.
That same trio is UWG's three leading scorers with Donald's 17.8 per game atop the team box score and ranking second in the ASUN.
Jasmine Jones is third in the league and second on the team at 16.2 points per game. She has been lethal from the three-point line ranking 25th in the county in three-point percentage (47.9 percent) and third in the nation in three-pointers per game (3.83 per game).
Tolbert is third on the team at 12.5 points per game and is third in the league in assists per game (4.5). Leading the ASUN in assists per game is Grace O'Gara (5.0).
For the opposition, they are led by Shaunice Reed who scores 11.1 points per game. The Bulldogs also feature Iemiyah Harris who scores 10.6 per game and Mya Byrd who is third on the team with 10.2 points per game.
The Bulldogs began the season with wins over Morris and Trinity, but have since lost eight straight games.
It's the second time in two years the two teams have met with the Wolves winning a 74-57 contest at The Coliseum on November 29 of last season.
Tip-time for Sunday's contest in Orangeburg is set for 4 p.m.
