UWG Volleyball Releases 2025 Schedule

CARROLLTON, Ga. – With graduation over and summer in full swing, the West Georgia faithful are one step closer to cheering on the UWG women's volleyball team this fall.  As the season quickly approaches, the program officially released the 2025 schedule today.

"We are very much looking forward to this season," said head coach Kara Hellmann. "We head into the year with a lot of new pieces in key positions. We have a younger roster and feel we have done a good job of putting a non-conference schedule together that will challenge this group and help our young team grow quickly."

Kicking off the 2025 campaign on August 22, the Wolves look to prepare for the regular season by hosting Montevallo in an exhibition match in The Coliseum. Following this friendly, the team gets right into the action by going on a 13-game road stint to start the season.

When discussing this month-long home hiatus, coach Hellmann stated, "Since we will be on the road for the first month, this group will have to learn quickly how to handle the travel and playing in tough environments, but I think that sets us up well for the travel we will see within conference play."

Jump-starting the regular season in Atlanta, the Wolves open things up by taking on Furman and Georgia State on August 29, and then Presbetryan College on the 30th.

Following this first weekend at GSU, the Wolves travel to North Carolina to compete in the UNC Asheville Tournament against UNC Asheville and Furman on September 5, followed by a match against East Carolina the next day. Notably, West Georgia's first home win at the DI level was a 3-1 victory over UNC Asheville last season.

Staying on the road, the Wolves travel to Huntsville to clash with Alabama A&M at T.M. Elmore Gym on September 9. Last year, West Georgia beat the Bulldogs in a back-and-forth five-set battle, ultimately claiming a 3-2 win in The Coliseum.

Continuing the 2025 schedule's trend of taking on Carolina teams, UWG heads back to The Tar Heel State to compete in the UNC Wilmington Tournament against UNCW and Charlotte on September 12, before wrapping up the road trip with a match against UNC Greensboro the following day. Remarkably, eight of the Wolves' opening ten matches are against schools from the Carolinas.

Closing out the 13-match road stretch, UWG heads to Macon to face Mercer, UT Martin and North Dakota over a three-day period spanning September 18 through 20.

Following the month-long road stint, West Georgia returns to Carrollton on September 26 to face North Florida in the conference-opener.

"We have talked about it as a team, playing at home this season is going to be precious to us," said coach Hellmann. "It's important for us to play our best at The Coliseum in front of our home crowd."

Luckily for UWG supporters, fans will not need to wait long before getting another opportunity to catch the Wolves in action at home, with UWG being set to play Jacksonville on September 28.

Going back on the road, West Georgia's next competition takes the team south to compete against Florida Gulf Coast on October 3 and then Stetson two days later. Notably, the Wolves beat SU 3-1 last season to claim their first-ever ASUN win.

Following the weekend in Florida, the team heads the opposite direction to challenge Bellarmine on the 10th and Eastern Kentucky on the 11th.

Returning home following the back-to-back road trips, UWG will host North Alabama on October 17 and Central Arkansas two days later. From here, the remainder of the Wolves' 2025 schedule has the team flip-flopping between playing two matches at home, then two away.

Following the aforementioned home matches, UWG gets back on the road to face off against Queens on October 22 and then Lipscomb on the 28th.

Looping back through the ASUN competition, the Wolves return Carrollton to rematch Stetson on October 31 and then FGCU on November 2.

Five days later, UWG hits the pavement for the final time of the regular season, rematching Jacksonville and North Florida down in The Sunshine State on November 7-8.

West Georgia closes out the regular season with home matches against Queens on November 12 and Austin Peay on the 15th. Interestingly, the Wolves' most recent victory was a 3-2 win over APSU.

Depending on where the Wolves place on the final ASUN standings, UWG will have a chance to compete in the conference championship, which will be held from November 20-22.

"We have clear goals ahead of us when it comes to competing in the ASUN," stated coach Hellmann. "We finished last season with a lot of really positive energy around and within our program. This group fed off of that energy all off-season and is working extremely hard preparing for this upcoming season. We have a team that is motivated, gritty and ready to prove themselves."

Stay tuned for the release of 2025 volleyball season tickets. Announcements regarding availability, along with all other updates on West Georgia volleyball will be posted on the team's Instagram and X pages @uwgwolvesvb.
