The Coliseum
The Coliseum became the home of UWG Wolves basketball and volleyball in 2009 when the University opened the new multi-purpose building that also housed academic space.
West Georgia hosted Montevallo in a doubleheader on January 8, 2009 to christen the new building. The UWG women won the first ever game in the building with a 54-38 victory while the UWG men fell in their opening contest at the 6,500 seat arena.Â
UWG volleyball had to wait until the following August before playing their first game in their new home. To open the 2009 season, the Wolves hosted the West Georgia Classic and defeated Stillman in game one at The Coliseum.
Since its opening, the building has seen hundreds of competitions and other events as well as hosting concerts including Ludacris, Cole Swindell, and Florida Georgia Line. The arena itself has evolved since it opened its doors, doubling the number of chairback seating, adding new video boards, and most recently installing new programmable LED lighting as well as a new speaker system.Â
