Carrollton, GA - The six-game 2012 home schedule for the West Georgia Wolves comes to a close on Saturday afternoon at University Stadium, as UWG hosts Gulf South Conference newcomer Shorter on Senior Day.
The game marks the first home contest since Homecoming on October 6 that will not be the GSC-TV Live Game of the Week, but there will still be several options to follow the contest. The game will be broadcast on KISS 102.7 as well as online at the links located at the top of the Gameday 2012 page. UWG will also offer a live video stream of the game also featuring the radio broadcast. This will be the first meeting between the to schools that are just 50 miles apart, as Shorter is located just up the road in Rome, GA.
UWG at a Glance
West Georgia enters Saturday's contest with a 3-5 overall record this season, including 1-3 in Gulf South Conference play. The Wolves are coming off of a tough loss last Saturday night at the hands of the 14th-ranked West Texas A&M Buffaloes. UWG moved the ball well, scoring 28 points, including two touchdowns through the air, but the Buffalo offense was too much, racking up nearly 500 yards on the night in handing the Wolves a 52-28 loss. David Bailey led the rushing attack for West Georgia with 17 carries for 70 yards and one touchdown on the night. Bailey also had a receiving touchdown, raising his season total to six total touchdowns on the year. Sophomore
Seth Hinsley had 17 carries for 59 yards and freshman
Dallas Dickey added 19 carries for 56 yards. Dickey also had a rushing touchdowna and two passing scores. Sophomore
Joey Eliezer was the recipient of the other passing score, his third of the season. Dickey has accounted for 12 touchdowns on the year, seven on the ground and five through the air.
Shorter at a glance
The Hawks enter this weekend's contest with a 4-5 record overall on the year and are 0-3 in GSC play. Shorter played their first GSC-TV Live game of the Week last week, facing Valdosta State on Thursday night. The Blazers outraced the Hawks by a 30-point margin in that contest. Shorter averages 350 yards per game this season, with 268 of those yards coming via the ground. Bradley Moon leads the charge and has 154 carries for 808 yards on the year, averaging 89.2 yards per game. Sophomore quarterback Eric Dodson averages 53.4 yards per contest and running back T.J. Telfair has 38.9 yards per game. The Hawks are giving up an average of 42 points per game in GSC play, but 24 points per game on the year.
Senior Day at University Stadium - Saturday will be the final march onto the field for the 2012 senior class. The UWG Athletic Department will honor these hard-working young men in a Senior Day ceremony that will begin approximately 20 minutes prior to the start of the game.

West Georgia is coached by Daryl Dickey, who is in his fifth season at West Georgia. He is 13-35 at UWG and has an overall record of 41-50. Shorter is led by Phil Jones, who is in his eighth season at the Hawks' helm. He has an overall record of 47-37 at Shorter.
