The 2012 season kicks off on September 1, as the Wolves take on Point University in the first-ever meeting between the two
.
West Georgia is abuzz with anticipation heading into the new year. The Wolves are coming off of their best season in seven years after a 6-4 finish last season. Those six wins included two against nationally-ranked opponents in Valdosta State and Delta State and another against a conference champion in Miles.
Point will have one advantage, as they have already played their first game of the year, taking on Edward Waters last week in Florida. But the Skyhawks are in just their second season of football and the 2012 campaign is their first of varsity football. The Chargers' young defense struggled against Edward Waters as Point fell 66-34 in their season opener.
The game marks the second time in four years that University Stadium has been the site of the Wolves' home opener.
Mitch Gray and Andy Miccachione will have the call from the press box, as Gray enters his 31st year in the radio booth for the University of West Georgia.
