Carrollton, GA - For the first time in 10 years, the West Georgia Wolves are 2-0 to start the season. But that is no reason to shout, as awaiting the Wolves in Week 3 is an equally tough opponent that is looking for revenge in the Miles Bears.
The matchup with be the first road trip for the Wolves this season, as Albert J. Stone Alumni Stadium in Fairfield, Ala. is the site. West Georgia took the battle in University Stadium last year by a 23-20 count, holding off a furious challenge from Miles in the final minutes of the contest. After that loss, Miles ran off a string of wins and won the always tough Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship at the end of the season.
This year, West Georgia enters the Miles game with a 2-0 record, while Miles is 1-1. The Golden Bears lost to North Alabama 31-30 in the season opener in hearbreaking fashion, then beat Shaw 28-15 last week on the road in Durham, N.C.
Miles comes into the game averaging 284.5 yards through the air and just 93 yards per game on the ground. Quarterback David Thomas has attempted every pass this season and is 35-for-56 with one interception on the year. He has been sacked four times this season, with all four sacks coming last week against Shaw.
