Carrollton, GA - Following a solid victory in the 2012 season opener last Saturday, the West Georgia Wolves don't get a breather, as 2010 Harlon Hill finalist Bo Cordell and the Tusculum Pioneers come calling this Saturday. This week's game against Tusculum was originally scheduled to take place at 2 p.m., but the change to a televised broadcast changed the start time to 3:30 p.m.
2012 Gameday Page
West Georgia opened the 2012 season last week at home with a 55-3 win over Point University. The Wolves rushed for more than 300 yards against the Skyhawks in the win. Despite a nearly 400-yard passing performance from Cordell against Urbana, the Pioneers came up short in their opener last week, falling by a 53-33 count.
While the game has the potential to be an offensive explosion, several exciting things will be happening at University Stadium on September 8. The game will be broadcast live on CSS and the University of West Georgia is also honoring the 30th anniversary of the 1982 Division III National Championship.
Members of that groundbreaking team will be the honored guests of the UWG Athletic Department, with a special ceremony planned for halftime.
Tips for Tailgating this week
The UWG Athletic Department has unearthed a new part within the tailgating scene at University Stadium. The area now includes a special section for those that would bring trailers or grills that are of the tow-behind variety. For more information, contact
Eddie Duffey at
eduffey@westga.edu.
The property will open at approximately 11:30 a.m. for tailgating on Saturday, with the ticket booth set to open at 1:30 and the stadium gates open at 2:00.
Get in the Stadium Early
The first 1,000 students who arrive at University Stadium on Saturday for the 3:30 start will receive a free T-Shirt, compliments of the UWG Athletic Department and Ozier Products.
