HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The UWG softball team lost the finale of a three-game Gulf South Conference series to Alabama Huntsville on Saturday afternoon at Charger Park in Huntsville.
Alabama Huntsville (27-14) scored eight unanswered runs to erase a five run UWG lead and sweep the series over the Wolves (11-29).
Back-to-back walks by
Kristyn Nix and
Hannah Scarbrough got runners on for the Wolves and
Jacie Arrington picked up the first RBI of the game with a single to left field.
Chandler Mevis then doubled home two, and two more scored on a UAH error, putting the Wolves up, 5-0.
After a perfect first, UAH tagged
Macy Ann McKnight for four runs in the second, scoring on three hits and an error. UAH plated three runs in the second to take their first lead of the game and added two more in the sixth.
West Georgia had seven hits in the game including a two-hit game from
Alley Taylor.
The Wolves will now set their sights on a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday against Columbus State. First pitch for that doubleheader is set for 3 p.m.
