CLEVELAND, Tenn. - The Gulf South Conference era of UWG soccer came to an end on Saturday night in the quarterfinals of the GSC Tournament as the Wolves fell 2-0 to the second-seeded Lee Flames.
West Georgia was almost immediately in a hole as the Flames scored a goal in the first minute of the contest, and then added a second half insurance goal in the 65th minute.
Abby McGlamery gave the Wolves a near equalizer in the opening half as her rocket from outside the box was touched just over the crossbar by the Lee keeper.
Lee had 15 shots in the first half and then the Wolves were able to possess the ball more in the second half, but only managed two shots in final half, finishing with four shots and three on target.
Haley Brinkman wrapped up her career with a seven-save performance and finishing with 148 career saves.
The Wolves finish the season 6-7-4 with a third straight postseason trip.
