CARROLLTON, Ga. - Newly appointed University of West Georgia head football coach Joel Taylor was formally introduced on Tuesday afternoon at The Coliseum in front of the UWG faithful.
Fans on hand heard from University of West Georgia President Dr. Brendan Kelly as well as Director of Athletics Jason Carmichael before Taylor gave an introductory speech in which he thanked those that got him to this point, as the 12th head coach in UWG football history. Taylor also laid out the foundation for the UWG program in which he will now lead.
"The first thing is going to be love, as big football players, we don't like to use that word, but at the end of the day, love is the strongest emotion, so first we're going to love each other," said Taylor on Tuesday. "The next thing is believe. So we're going to believe in these players, and I believe in this school, so we're going to start there and believe that we're going to be the best that we can be. And the last thing is compete. We're going to compete every single day, and we're going to earn what we get. When you see that football team out there, you're going to see a bunch of competitors."
