Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw at Young Harris

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The UWG soccer team finished Sunday's non-conference action at Young Harris with eight shots on frame and nothing to show for it in a 0-0 draw against the Mountain Lions.

West Georgia (0-1-1) had a 14-12 advantage in shots and also put more on frame than Young Harris (1-0-1) on a warm Sunday afternoon, but neither team could find the back of the net after 90 minutes of play.

In the opening half, Young Harris had seven shots to five from the Wolves, and UWG's first scoring chance came early as Katherine Hagans put one on target in the fourth minute. On the other end of the period, Lauren O'Neill also had a shot on goal in the 41st minute.

The Wolves were more aggressive in their attack in the second half, rattling off nine shots with six on target, but YHC's McKenna Peaster kept the Wolves off the scoreboard.

Senior Haley Brinkman faced 12 shots total, making five saves to pitch her first shutout of the season and eighth of her career.

UWG has now played 180 minutes of scoreless soccer on the season and will look to break that trend in their next action at Georgia College on September 12. That game is set to kick off at 6 p.m. from Milledgeville.
