CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia soccer teams wrapped up their season with a 1-1 tie against Queens University on Friday evening.
The Wolves had a solid game, coming back from a 1-0 deficit and outshooting the Royals.
Queens took an early lead in the eighth minute with a goal from Sophia Muetterties, assisted by Girah Durant, off a corner kick. In the 25th minute, Queens had a chance to make it 2-0 with a penalty kick, but Hannah Garrett made a crucial save to keep the score at 1-0.
In the second half, the Wolves ramped up their play and controlled more possession, firing seven shots, five of which were on target. They worked hard to break through the Royals' defense, and in the 70th minute, a shot from Katherine Hagans was cleared by Queens and landed at Ella Staub's feet, allowing her to score her first goal of the season.
The Wolves fought until the end but couldn't find the net again, ending the season with a 1-1 tie. This match concludes the 2024 season for the University of West Georgia soccer team.
