Box Score CLEVELAND, TN. - The University of West Georgia women's basketball team fell to the Lee Flames, 71-53, in a GSC rematch on Wednesday night.
West Georgia (14-11, 10-11 GSC) struggled with turnovers as they committed 23 in a loss to the Lee Flames (18-8,16-6). Zuriyah Davis was the leading scorer with 19 points, and Mykah Anderson was second in scoring with 16 points.
The Wolves started off strong, holding the Flames to shoot only 20 percent in the first five minutes of play while shooting 0-8 from three. Zuriyah Davis led the first quarter in scoring with six points, and the Wolves shot 42 percent from the field, and 43 percent from the three point to lead at the first quarter break, 15-14.
The Wolves struggled to begin the second quarter as the Flames went on a 14-0 run to start giving them a 28-14 lead at the second media timeout. UWG went on a little run in the closing minutes of the second quarter to cut the lead to 11 heading into halftime.
Starting the third quarter, the Wolves had five turnovers to start the second, half increasing the total to 19. Mykah Anderson had an 11 point third quarter shooting 4-for-4 from the floor, as well as hitting both of her attempts from three point land. Zuriyah Davis hit a big three at the end of regulation to cut the Flames lead to 11.
In the fourth quarter, It was a back and forth battle to begin the first five minutes of play. Going into the media timeout, the Wolves brought the Flames lead down to 10, but the home standing Flames closed out the Wolves down the stretch.
