CARROLLTON, Ga. - The University of West Georgia Department of Athletics announced today the addition of Lincoln University (CA) to their 2024 football schedule, hosting the Oaklanders on November 2, 2024. The addition gives the Wolves 11 total games including seven at home in their inaugural season of Division I football.
After the United Athletic Conference (UAC) announced the revised schedule on June 10 after the departure of Stephen F. Austin University, UWG was left with just 10 games.
"We are excited to be able to bring another home game to the City of Championships this fall," said Director of Athletics Jason Carmichael. "Having seven contests in the University Stadium on Ra-Lin Field in our first year as a Division I program is exceptional. We are very excited about how this schedule has evolved."
UWG will now take on Oakland, California's Lincoln University on November 2. Lincoln boasts a new athletics program that will play just its fourth season of football in 2024. The Oaklanders 2023 schedule featured 12 total games and eight Division I opponents including games at Tennessee State, Kennesaw State, Southern Utah, and Florida A&M.
With the announcement, UWG's home slate now features Samford, North Alabama, Austin Peay, Shorter, Southern Utah, Lincoln (CA), and Tarleton State. The Wolves will play six games at home in a seven-week span during the 2024 season and that stretch includes four consecutive home games from October 19 through November 9.
