Wolves Fall Short to Queens in Three Sets

CARROLLTON, Ga- The University of West Georgia volleyball team came up short against the Queens Royals, falling in three sets at The Coliseum.

UWG (2–26, 0–15 ASUN) battled hard but ultimately fell to the Queens Royals (17–11, 8–7 ASUN) in three sets on Wednesday night.

The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle, with neither team gaining a clear advantage early on. Sanai Young and Molly Brunell each delivered key kills to keep UWG in contention, but the Royals found their rhythm after taking an 8–7 lead. Queens finished the set with a 17–5 run to take the 25–12 win and a 1–0 match lead.

In the second set, the Wolves jumped out to an early 7–2 lead behind strong plays from Olivia Kremer, who delivered an ace, and Grace Blythe-Cornett, who added a key kill. Queens rallied to even the score at 13–13, then strung together several runs to take the set 25–20 and extend their match lead to 2–0.

Queens carried their momentum from the second set into the third, jumping out to an early 5–0 lead. The Wolves fought to mount a comeback, but their rally fell short as the Royals closed out the set 25–20 to complete the 3–0 match victory.

Valiree Schmus led the Wolves with nine kills, while Addy Franz  led with 20 assists.
 
The Wolves will be back at The Coliseum on Saturday night for their season finale and Senior Night matchup against Austin Peay, with first serve set for 7 p.m.
