CARROLLTON, Ga. - Believe it or not, the 2025 season finale for UWG football is here.
What a fall it has been for West Georgia (7-3, 4-3 UAC) as they look to cap off their second season in Division I, FCS football with a third-straight victory and doubling their overall wins from 2024 with eight. To get there, however, the Wolves have to knock off Utah Tech (2-8, 1-5 UAC) in a Senior Day showdown.

West Georgia is coming off of a 24-17 road victory at North Alabama, and look to win a third straight and complete a 4-1 campaign at home. If successful, UWG's lone loss on RaLin Field would have come at the hands of the 19th-ranked team in FCS football.
Utah Tech, conversely, is coming off a 31-10, home loss to that aforementioned Abilene Christian team last week, and is winless on the road in 2025.
The Wolves' offense enters the finale on the heels of their best performance in terms of total offense, putting up 460 yards against the Lions last week. Davin Wydner threw for 274 yards in the win, which was the second-highest total for the pass game this season. Wydner threw for two scores on the day, and posted his second-best career completion percentage at 76.5 percent (26-of-34). Wydner's career best single-game completion percentage came against Utah Tech last season when he completed 78.9 percent of his 19 attempts.
UWG's defense also posted their second-best game in terms of total yards allowed, holding UNA to just 230 total yards and 68 on the ground. The pass rush was a big key in limiting yards as the Wolves racked up five sacks for 44 yards and had a big tackle for loss on the game's opening play which resulted in a 23 yards for UNA.
David Hoage, who enters the game ranked second in the country with 18.0 tackles for loss, had one of those five sacks last week with Micah Thurman, Carson Yancy, Kourtney Kelly, and Robert Johnson also recording a sack.
Back to UWG's offense, Latrelle Murrell posted his fourth 100-yard rushing game of the season, finishing with 128 yards on 16 carries including a 55-yard touchdown. His performance also put him over 1,000 yards on the ground for his career.
Utah Tech's offense ranks just inside the top-100 of FCS football with 327.3 yards per game, and their defense allows nearly 390 yards per game which ranks 77th in the country.
The Trailblazers have played an incredibly tough schedule, with UWG representing UT's seventh ranked opponent during the season. To make it even tougher, four of the Trailblazers' previous five road matchups have been ranked opponents.
Saturday marks just the second time, and last for the foreseeable future, that UWG and Utah Tech will have met. The Wolves defeated the Trailblazers 34-31 in St. George to close out the 2024 season.
UWG will honor 23 seniors prior to kickoff on Saturday as part of Senior Day festivities.
Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. from University Stadium in Carrollton. The game is being broadcast on ESPN+ and UWG fans can also listen live to the radio broadcast on KISS 102.7 or the Gradick Communications Listening Portal.
