CARROLLTON, Ga.- After erupting for a 100-92 win over The Citadel in the ASUN/SoCon Challenge, the UWG men's basketball team hits the road to face Tennessee Tech on Monday, November 17, at 7 p.m. inside the Eblen Center. The Wolves (2-2, 0-0 ASUN) look to secure their first road victory of the 2025–26 season and build on their early offensive success.
UWG enters Monday's matchup having already surpassed last season's total for 100-point games. The Wolves recorded only one triple-digit outing during the 2024-25 campaign against Brewton-Parker on December 21, 2024. West Georgia has already achieved that mark twice in just four games this season. Their offense has been among the strongest in the ASUN so far, ranking fifth in scoring at 83.8 points per game while leading the conference in field-goal percentage (50 percent) and three-point percentage (41 percent).
The Wolves' most recent offensive outburst was powered by five double-digit scorers and multiple career-best performances. Guard Josh Smith led the surge with a career-high 27 points, shooting 60 percent (9-15) from the field, 75 percent (3-4) from three, and 86 percent (6-7) from the free-throw line. Shelton Williams-Dryden followed with 22 points and 11 rebounds, securing his first double-double of the season and the seventh of his career. He shot 47 percent from the field (9-19) in his 22-point outing, which also marked his 15th career 20-point game. Williams-Dryden continues to lead UWG offensively, entering Monday's contest ranked fourth in the ASUN in scoring (17.8 ppg) and fourth in rebounds (7.8 rpg).
Chas Lewless delivered another impressive performance, scoring a career-high 16 points with nine assists on 60 percent shooting (6-10) while shooting 2-of-4 from deep. The redshirt freshman has increased his scoring in every game this season, posting 11, 12, 13, and now 16 points, Lewless currently ranks fourth in the ASUN in assists per game (5.0). Kolten Griffin added a season-high 15 points on a blistering 7-of-9 shooting, along with a block and two steals. JaVar Daniel rounded out the Wolves' double-digit scorers with a season-high 13 points on 83 percent shooting (5-6), adding four blocks and a steal.
Defensively, UWG has emerged as one of the nation's top shot-blocking teams. The Wolves are averaging seven blocks per game with 28 total, ranking 15th nationally in blocks per contest. Kenneth Chime anchors the interior, averaging three blocks per game and leading both the ASUN and the team with 12 total blocks. Close behind is JaVar Daniel, who ranks second in the conference with 2.3 blocks per game. Together, the duo has been a dominant presence in the paint, helping UWG hold opponents to just 45 percent shooting from the field.
Tennessee Tech (2-2, 0-0 OVC) enters the matchup riding a two-game winning streak and closing out its three-game homestand. The Golden Eagles aim to remain undefeated at home to open the season. Tennessee Tech is coming off back-to-back home victories, defeating Virginia University of Lynchburg 118-58 and Berea 86-64. Like UWG, the Golden Eagles featured five double-digit scorers in their most recent outing.
Mekhi Cameron led the Golden Eagles with 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, draining five three-pointers, and has opened the season with four straight double-digit scoring efforts. He also ranks second in the OVC in three-point percentage at 43 percent. JaJuan Nicholls added 13 points and leads the OVC in field-goal percentage at 78 percent. C.J. McPherson followed with 12 points, connecting on four three-pointers, while Dani Pounds added 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting and nearly recorded a double-double with a team-high nine rebounds. Rounding out Tennessee Tech's balanced attack, Brandon Muntu finished with 10 points, including a pair of threes.
Tennessee Tech enters Monday's contest ranking fourth in the OVC in scoring at 84.8 points per game, slightly ahead of UWG's 83.8, and shooting 50 percent from the field, matching the Wolves efficiency. The matchup projects to be an offensive showcase in the Volunteer State.
