Sweat Commits to UWG Men’s Basketball

12/11/2025 9:00:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Head Men's Basketball Coach Dave Moore announced today that high school senior Jaylin Sweat committed to play for the University of West Georgia, marking the first pick up of the 2026 class.

Prepping at the Bradwell Institute in Hinesville, Georgia, Sweat is a 6-foot-6 forward who has made a name for himself on the high school circuit as an explosive big man that can jump out of the gym.

"We're really excited about Jaylin. We got to see him play a lot this summer," said Moore. "He's a 6'6", long, athletic, combo forward that can really rebound. He fits our style of play with our forwards. You can compare him to a young Shelton Williams-Dryden in terms of his skill set and his ceiling at 6'6", really bouncy, really athletic, young to the game. So we're really excited about getting the opportunity to develop Jaylin and see how high his ceiling can be."

During his junior season (2024-25), the forward led the Bradwell Tigers to a GSHA 5A State Championship Tournament berth, averaging 12.1 points, 6.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.1 blocks and 0.5 steals per game while shooting 62 percent from the field. These figures placed Sweat top-three for the Tigers in points, field goal percentage, rebounds and blocks. Through 28 appearances that season, Sweat knocked down double-digits in all but six games, and totaled one double-double.

When he was not playing for Bradwell, Sweat competed for the Gold Elite, a club team out of the On The Radar Hoops league.
