Hoage Becomes UWG's First Division I All-American

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Senior defensive lineman David Hoage has made history for UWG football, becoming the first-ever Division I All-American following an outstanding 2025 campaign.

The Denver, Colorado native was named this week to the FCS Football Central All-America team, earning First Team honors at defensive line.

Hoage was a legit candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, recording 20.0 tackles for loss which tied a single-season record at UWG while ranking third on the team in tackles and leading the Wolves with 8.5 sacks.

Hoage is also a finalist for the National Defensive Player of the Year, known as the Buck Buchanan Award.

West Georgia has not had an All-American since 2022, and wrapped up their Division II era with 66 all-America selections.

Between Hoage's time at West Georgia and Northern Colorado, where he played three seasons before transferring prior to 2025, Hoage made 48 career tackles for loss. Hoage was also an All-America selection following his sophomore season (2021) in which he had 23 TFLs and 10.5 sacks for the Bears.
