CARROLLTON, Ga. - Three Wolves scored in double-figures on Sunday afternoon to lead the UWG women's basketball team past Brewton-Parker, 81-46, in the final non-conference game of the 2025-26 season.
Jasmine Jones led all scorers with 20 points, while Asia Donald added 17 and Grace O'Gara had 11 for West Georgia (7-4) as the Wolves won their second straight game heading into ASUN play this week.
"Great team win coming off of Christmas break," siad head coach Joanna Reitz following the game. "We haven't played in a week, and anytime that happens you get nervous as a coach, you know, how are we going to look. And I was really pleased how we came out in the first half. We had good tempo and we stuck to our game plan."
West Georgia used a dominant first half performance on defense, holding Brewton-Parker (2-12) to 17 points in the first half. The Wolves' defense forced 18 first half turnovers and scored 23 points off of turnovers in the opening half, and the Wolves cruised to victory at The Coliseum.
Brewton-Parker scored the first eight points of the game before three-pointers from Jasmine Jones and Sydne Tolbert got the Wolves on the board. At the 4:35 mark of the period, Jones would bury a triple to give the Wolves their first lead of the game at 13-10.
The Wolves' defense clamped down from that point and kept the Barons scoreless over the remainder of the quarter and led 18-10 after one.
Two more Jones' three-pointers sandwiched around a Destiny Jones steal and layup forced Brewton-Parker to call a timeout early in the second with UWG up 16 points.
By the time Brewton-Parker scored again, UWG had gone on a 26-0 run and extended their lead to 22 points. The lead would eventually grow to 29 before halftime came with UWG up 45-17.
"They came out and went on a scoring spree right at the beginning, but after that we locked up defensively and started to play how we wanted to play," Reitz added. "That 27-7 second quarter was excellent."
The two teams played pretty evenly in the third quarter, with BPC actually outscoring the Wolves 20-19 in the period.
UWG outscored the Barons 17-9 over the final 10 minutes of play and led by as much as 38 points down the stretch.
On the glass, UWG had a 45-41 advantage and was led by Donald's eight boards with Sydne Tolbert adding seven. UWG had assists on 16 of their 28 made baskets with O'Gara's five assists leading the team.
The Wolves are on the road on Thursday, opening up the New Year and Atlantic Sun Conference play with a road trip to EKU. Tip-off from Richmond, Kentucky is set for 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 1.
