CARROLLTON, Ga. - The UWG softball team dropped game three of this weekend's series on Sunday, falling 7-2 to the North Florida Ospreys.
West Georgia (10-30, 2-13Â ASUN) didn't get a hit until fifth and then broke through on the scoreboard run the sixth while North Florida (34-12, 14-1 ASUN) scored in five of the seven innings and racked up 10 total hits.
North Florida struck first, cashing in a leadoff walk in the first. Then in the second, UNF extended their lead with a pair of runs on three hits.
A two-out error extended the top half of the third and the Ospreys made UWG pay as Mackenzie Woods slugged a two-run homer to make it a 5-0 UNF advantage.
In the fifth, it was a sac fly that added to the Ospreys' tally, putting the visitors up 6-0. Two more hits in the sixth plated a seventh run for the Ospreys.
The Wolves finally broke up the shutout bid when Zekylah Boyd led off the sixth with a single and then scored on an RBI-double by Makayla Register. Blaire Bizette then singled home Register to cut the deficit to five.
UWG had four hits total and just five baserunners all game long.
West Georgia is back on the road next week, traveling to Charlotte, North Carolina for a three-game conference series against the Queens Royals.
