ATLANTA, Ga. - West Georgia baseball was defeated 4-0 by the Georgia State Panthers tonight on the road.
Following seven scoreless innings, the Wolves' (17-21, 8-10 ASUN) defensive dam broke, leading to four GSU (24-18, 9-9 ASUN) scores in the eighth and ultimately a Panther midweek win. Tonight's loss pushes the UWG losing streak to three with the Wolves' sights set on bouncing back this weekend at Jacksonville.
Head coach
Jeff Smith had this to say about tonight's game, "For the most part I thought we pitched well tonight. I thought we competed. We just didn't get the hits we needed when we needed it. A couple of walks, a hit and an error in the eighth, it really costed us. Tonight was a big college baseball game. I wish would have come out of it on the better end, but it was a good learning opportunity. We now need to get ready for Jacksonville."
