UWG Men's Basketball Releases Non-Conference Schedule

8/27/2025 11:23:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. -  As summer comes to an end and fall begins to creep in, UWG men's basketball is one dribble closer to embarking on their 2025-26 campaign, with the program announcing their out-of-conference schedule today.

The season's non-conference slate offers the UWG faithful six chances to catch the Wolves in action at The Coliseum, while the Pack will hit the road for another six out-of-conference games.

Kicking off the season at Nebraska on November 3, the Wolves' schedule features three other power four road games, including: UCLA (Nov. 10), Georgia Tech (Nov. 23) and Georgia (Dec. 22).

"It's an exciting opportunity, anytime you can go up against some of the top programs in the country," said head coach Dave Moore. "Nebraska opening night will be a great environment and a top-notch facility in the Big Ten. It's an opportunity for our guys to test themselves in the non-conference season against some of the best in the country," Moore continued. "Playing in the Pauley Pavilion and being on campus at UCLA. There's so much tradition and history in men's basketball there. That'll be awesome for our guys to see that."

Sandwiched between the Big Ten road games, UWG returns to The Coliseum to host Huntingdon College on November 7 for the season home-opener. Following the California trip, the Wolves host The Citadel on November 14 in the ASUN/SOCON Challenge. In last year's challenge, the ASUN lost in a tight 11-9 battle.

The remainder of West Georgia's out-of-conference home games feature USC Upstate (Nov. 21), Tennessee Tech (Dec. 6), Georgia Southern (Dec. 13) and Brewton Parker (Dec. 17). Interestingly, the Wolves' first win as a Division I program was a 78-73 victory over TTU last season (Dec. 7, 2024).

"We are excited to host more games this year. We only had three non-conference home games last season. We were on the road a lot and I think that hurt our psyche a little bit," stated Moore. "We wanted to schedule some more games at home with teams that are at our level. So those games, Citadel, Tennessee Tech, and USC Upstate. The Georgia Southern and the Sun Belt, are a little bit higher level, but again, in-state rivalry type games. We want to try to establish those types of games and create some in-state rivalries that way."

Beyond West Georgia's power four out-of-conference road competition, the team takes on TTU in Cookeville, Tennessee (Nov. 17) and Troy in Troy, Alabama (Dec. 1).

As 2025 comes to an end, so does the Wolves non-conference competition, with the New Year marking the start of conference play for UWG.

Be on the lookout for the finalized ASUN schedule and the release of the full 2025-26 men's basketball slate. Ticket sales go live next Monday (Sept. 1), and can be found here.
