CARROLLTON, Ga. - For the second time in their FCS history, the West Georgia Wolves have been named the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week.
On the heels of their thrilling, come-from-behind, 35-31 victory over ETSU, the Wolves garner the national attention. The win also came in the first game played as a ranked team as the Wolves were ranked 25th in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll.Â
The win came by way of
Devion Newson's two-yard touchdown catch with 15 seconds left as
Davin Wydner led a game-winning drive, lifting the Wolves over ETSU for the first 3-0 start for the Wolves since 2022.
The last time UWG earned the Stats Perform FCS National Team of the Week award came after the season-opening win over Samford in 2024, which was the first-ever Division I game and win in program history.
The Wolves welcome EKU to University Stadium this week for a 6 p.m. kickoff on September 20.
