UWG Falls to Tarleton State 4-0

STEPHENVILLE, TX.- The University of West Georgia women's soccer team (0-12-2, 0-7 UAC) fell 4-0 to Tarleton State (6-3-7, 4-1-2 UAC) on Sunday afternoon at the Tarleton State Soccer Complex, extending its losing streak to seven matches.

The Texans applied pressure early, recording 10 shots in the first half and forcing UWG goalkeeper Emily Sanabria to make multiple saves. Tarleton State broke through in the 13th minute when Adelaide Wyrzynski scored off an assist from Isa Bergeron-Prejean to give the Texans an early 1-0 lead.

UWG looked to respond as Noemi Casique and Kaialani Wise each put a shot on target. Casique's attempt was blocked by the Tarleton State defense, while Wise's shot was stopped by goalkeeper Rylie Bloomfield.

The Wolves continued to look for opportunities to get on the scoreboard, but the Texans doubled their advantage in the 25th minute. Zahra Friess finished a play assisted by Jessica Baires and Zoe Daly to give Tarleton State a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.

Tarleton State carried its momentum into the second half, adding a third goal in the 48th minute. Baires found the back of the net off an assist from Grace Berry to extend the lead to 3-0. The Texans continued to create scoring opportunities, finishing with 23 shots, including 12 on goal, while limiting the Wolves to five total shots.

In the 76th minute, Berry scored to complete the scoring at 4-0. Sanabria finished with six saves across 60 minutes of action before Lilli Suarez entered in relief and recorded two saves over the final 29 minutes.

The loss marks UWG's fifth consecutive match decided by more than two goals and its second straight 4-0 defeat. The Wolves will look to regroup as they close out their three-match road trip next weekend.

UWG travels to Clarksville, Tennessee, on Sunday, Oct. 25, to face the Austin Peay Governors at 2 p.m.
