It's the first time since 2011 that a UWG football team has hosted a top-ranked team in the nation, and the first time ever in the Division I era. The last game regardless of location against a number-one ranked team was in 2021.

The Wolves will be looking for the same fortunes as those two games as in 2011, UWG knocked off Delta State and in 2021 it was a road victory at West Florida.

But it's a tough test awaiting the Wolves as Tarleton State enters not only ranked number one in all of FCS after starting the season with seven wins, but the Texans bring in the nation's top-ranked offense.

The Tarleton State offense is led by quarterback Kaden Anderson who has been the UAC Player of the Week the last two weeks, and leads the league in virtually every passing category.

TSU also has a stable of running backs that can hurt you, led by Tylan Hines who averages 7.7 yards per carry and has four touchdowns.

West Georgia gets a shot in the arm this week as head coach Steve Englehart returns and will make his UWG debut.

UWG will need to put up points to hang with the high-octane offense of Tarleton State, although the Wolves' defense played a great game against Austin Peay's explosive offense last week, holding the Govs to their lowest total points and yards of any FCS opponent in 2026.

Chidu Bekee leads UWG's defense with 54 tackles and is fourth in the UAC in tackles per game. The Plainfield, Illinois native has had back-to-back double-digit tackle performances including a career-best 12 stops in the Austin Peay loss.

Offensively, UWG has had no trouble moving the ball in the passing game as Colton FitzGerald has thrown for 300-plus yards in three of his four starts in 2026. The emphasis this week is finishing drives with points and protecting the football as the Wolves have had turnovers inside the five-yard line in the past two games.

When the drive has stalled and the field goal unit has been called on, redshirt freshman kicker Logan Lopez has been clutch. The Reston, Virginia native is a perfect five-for-five to start his UWG career and hit 49-yard field goals in both the EKU and Austin Peay losses.

Wolf Walk festivities begin at 11:30 a.m. with University Stadium gates opening at 12:30 p.m. Tickets and parking can be purchased on uwgathletics.com/tickets. Due to the expected increase of traffic and fans for Homecoming, purchasing tickets and parking in advance is highly encouraged.

Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. from RaLin Field. Fans can watch the broadcast on ESPN+ or listen to the play-by-play call on KISS 102.7.
