West Georgia Closes Out Regular Season at UNF

5/11/2026 9:46:00 AM

CARROLLTON, Ga. - Coming off a series sweep at Florida Gulf Coast, West Georgia baseball takes a short break before returning to the Sunshine State to play North Florida in the final regular season series of 2026. First pitch on Thursday is set for 6 p.m. at Harmon Stadium.

With only one series remaining, UWG (13-37, 10-17 ASUN) sits in fifth place of the ASUN Graphite Division, battling for the final tournament bid, while the top-ranked UNF Ospreys (28-22, 19-8 ASUN) have already clinched their spot.

Currently, Stetson is one game up on the Wolves while also holding the tiebreaker. This means Stetson cannot win this weekend and UWG will need to win two games for the Pack to make it into the ASUN Tournament. Queens could also jump ahead of UWG in the standings if they win this weekend (both teams currently have ten conference wins).

Going into the final weekend of play. UWG posts an 8.66 team ERA while UNF posts a 4.73 team ERA. Neither squad has announced its starters for the regular season series finale.

Looking at the game logs, UWG fans can expect to see sophomore righty Maverick Torres, senior righty Lex Kenny, redshirt senior Luke Ridley and redshirt junior Rowan Park on the mound at some point this weekend. Torres currently posts a 7.33 ERA, a 2-4 record and has struck out 43 batters. Kenny posts a 5.23 ERA, a 4-5 record and has struck out 54 batters. Ridley has recorded a 6.88 ERA, a 3-2 record and has struck out 43 batters. Making his way into the starting lineups as of late, Parks has tallied a 7.42 ERA, a 2-2 record and has struck out 21 batters. Park has conceded only three runs in his last 10.1 frames on the mound across four games.

For the Ospreys, UNF will likely pitch lefty junior Dakota Stone, righty senior Ryan Furey and sophomore righty Trevor Nikolis at some point this weekend. Stone leads the Ospreys with a 2.50 ERA, a 6-2 record and 91 strikeouts. Furey has tallied a 4.24 ERA, a 2-2 record and has struck out 32 batters. Nikolis has posted a 3.83 ERA, a 4-3 record and 34 strikeouts.

Moving to the batter's box, UWG third baseman Patrick McCullough heads into the final week of play leading the team and ASUN in hits (88) and batting average (.415), while also posting a UWG-best 43 runs, 17 doubles, two triples, 1.046 OPS, .599 slugging percentage and .447 on-base percentage. These figures rank the senior third in the ASUN in doubles, seventh in OPS, eighth in on-base percentage and ninth in slugging.

On the other side, UNF has been led at the plate by junior outfielder Gialdri Gomez. Currently, he leads the Ospreys with a .968 OPS and a .341 batting average while also posting 47 hits, 30 runs, 26 RBIs, 10 doubles and five homers.

As a team, UWG has averaged 5.6 runs per game while posting a .266 batting average, .353 on-base percentage and a .416 slugging rate. UNF has averaged 6.14 runs per game while posting a .263 batting average, .371 on-base percentage and a .417 slugging rate.

Due to this weekend's series being the last of the regular season, the schedule has been shifted to a Thursday through Saturday slate to give teams more time to prepare for next week's ASUN Tournament.  Game one and two will be streaming live on ESPN+.  All of the live coverage links are tagged on the UWG baseball schedule.
