Wolves Fall 5-1 in Final Game of 2026

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - West Georgia baseball fell 5-1 to North Florida in the final road game of the season this Saturday.

With UWG (13-41, 10-20 ASUN) leaving 10 on base, the Wolves could not get enough going on offense to overcome the top-ranked Ospreys (31-22, 22-8 ASUN).

The season finale took until the third frame for either team to get on the board. In the bottom of the inning, UNF smacked an RBI single into left field to take a 1-0 advantage over the Wolves.

The following frame would see UWG lock the game at 1-1 thanks to a Blane Schmitt RBI single through the left side. In the bottom of the fourth, North Florida regained a one run lead by capitalizing on a sacrifice fly to right field.

North Florida's lead ballooned to 3-1 in the sixth with another sacrifice fly to right. A two run homer in the seventh by UNF extended the hosts lead to 5-1.

The hosts would go on to win by four runs.

With the Wolves falling out of the Graphite Division's top four spots, West Georgia's season comes to an end.  

NOTABLE NUMBERS
-Starting pitcher Lex Kenny was tagged with the loss. In five frames, Kenny struck out five batters and allowed two earned runs. 
-Recording one hit today, Patrick McCullough ended the season on a 17-game hitting streak and a 35-game reached base streak. 
-UWG finished 2026 posting a 13-41 overall record while going 10-20 in the ASUN.
