Softball Sends Out 2026 Class with Senior Day Victory

CARROLLTON, Ga. - It was a Senior Day win for the UWG softball team on Saturday afternoon as the Wolves closed out the 2026 season with a 4-3 victory over the Queens Royals.

West Georgia (15-40, 7-17 ASUN) trailed 2-1 in the middle of the fifth, but a three-run fifth propelled the Wolves past Queens (14-34, 6-18) in the season finale.

Call Hardison got the start in her final collegiate game and tossed a complete game, scattrering eight hits over seven innings and allowed just one earned run while striking out five.

A pair of seniors got the Wolves on the board first in the third as a leadoff triple from Kristen Fowler set up an RBI groundout from Sky Ramos. But in the top of the fifth, Queens scored two thanks to a UWG error and took a brief 2-1 lead.

The Wolves fought right back and scored three in the fifth, starting with a leadoff walk by another senior, Zekylah Boyd and an infield single by senior Emerson Miller. Fowler then singled to get the runners up 60 feet, but an error allowed Boyd to take home and tie the game. Ramos then drew a walk and Jenna Samuel used a sacrifice fly to give the Wolves the lead. Senior Madison McDonald picked up the all-important fourth run on an RBI groundout.

Queens threatened in the seventh, and cut the lead to one, but in a storybook ending, a ground ball to second resulted in a 4-6-3 double play that began with a pair of seniors to slam the door on the comeback threat.

Fowler finished 3-for-3 in her final collegiate game while Ramos and McDonald each picked up RBIs in their final games.

The Wolves closed out their second season of Division I softball with a three-win improvement in both overall record and ASUN record.
