CARROLLTON, Ga.- University of West Georgia baseball head coach
Jeff Smith announced on Monday afternoon that
Dominic Murgo III has been promoted to a full-time staff position, fulfilling the pitching coach role.
"I am excited to have Dominic continue to grow within our program," stated Smith. "His passion for UWG, knowledge of the game, and ability to connect with our student-athletes will continue to have a tremendous impact on our baseball program. This is a positive move for our program as we continue to move forward with staffing needs to help us compete in the UAC."
Murgo spent last season serving as the part time assistant pitching coach for UWG. Prior to last year, Murgo broke into the coaching world as a graduate assistant coach and the Director of Analytics at Barry University for the 2024-25 school year.
As a player, the Florida native capped off his career pitching for Barry. In 2024, Murgo proved to be one of the top pitchers for the Parrots, posting a team-best 3.18 ERA and a 6-1 record, while tallying a fourth-best 38 strikeouts. Before BU, Murgo opened his college career pitching for UWG during the 2022 and 2023 seasons. With the Wolves, the pitcher competed in 24 games, accumulating 28.1 frames with 24 strikeouts.
