Huntsville, Ala.- The University of West Georgia women's cross country team competed in its second consecutive meet in Alabama, traveling to Huntsville, Ala., for the Southern Showcase on Friday morning. The Wolves finished 11th overall with 295 points.

The Wolves were once again led by Reatta Danhof, who finished 23rd in the 5K Open with a time of 19:45.1. Danhof owns a personal-best time of 18:21.8, which ranks third all-time in UWG history.

Danhof was followed by Linda Rivero, who crossed the finish line in 20:56.9, while Haley Hartman rounded out the Wolves' top three with a time of 21:22.4, improving on her first race of the season when she finished in 21:34.6.

UWG's only freshmen, twin sisters Jade Lawrence and Suri Lawrence, competed in their second 5K of their collegiate careers. Suri crossed the finish line first with a time of 22:25.1, followed by Jade with a time of 22:49.6.

The Wolves finished 11th out of 26 teams in the Southern Showcase Open 5K with 295 points. West Georgia tied Trevecca Nazarene with 295 points, but Trevecca earned the 10th-place position through the tiebreaker.

Trevecca's scoring runners Ashley Alsvig, Sarah Arnold, and Kate Brent finished ahead of UWG's corresponding second, third and fourth scoring runners, while West Georgia's first and fifth scorers finished ahead of Trevecca's. The 3-2 advantage in head-to-head scoring positions gave Trevecca the higher team placement.

The 11th-place finish marks an improvement from UWG's previous outing at the Foothills Invitational, where the Wolves finished 12th overall.

The Wolves will return to action next Friday, September 25, at the Tryon Invitational in Mill Spring, N.C., at Tryon International Horse Park.
