Head coach Jeff Smith has hired a graduate assistant with a Division I background for the 2021-22 academic year. Joey Jordan will begin his first year with West Georgia in the fall of 2021.Â
Jordan started his baseball career as an infielder at Jacksonville State University after a stellar high school career in his hometown of Wadley, Ala. He played in a total of 14 games with eight starts as a true freshman, hitting .250 on the year. As a sophomore, he transferred to Southern Union Community College, where he hit .378 in 56 total games before transferring to Division I Louisiana-Monroe for his final two years.Â
After transferring to Louisiana-Monroe, he hi .262 as a junior in 2018 before finishing off his collegiate career in 2019 with a .287 batting average. He finished with a flourish, hitting safely in 11 of his last 12 games at ULM.Â
