The 2022 season marks a return for Sutton to the defensive side of the ball as he will take over Outside Linebacker duties for David Dean and the Wolves.

During the 2021 campaign, Sutton coached the Tight Ends as well as the Fullbacks for an explosive unit that ranked 17th in total offense as well as 8th in passing offense nationally.

Sutton comes to West Georgia following a two-year stint at Georgia State University where he served as a graduate assistant working with both defensive and special teams units.

In 2020, Sutton assisted with one with one of the most productive and tenacious defensive units in the FBS.  Georgia State’s defensive unit ranked in the top-10 in the nation in Sacks (seventh with a school-record 35 in only 10 games) and takeaways (eighth with 21, tying the school record in only 10 games).  Additionally, the unit ranked 14th in the nation in tackles-for-loss while only giving up an average of 136.6 yards rushing per game.  Sutton worked primarily with the outside linebackers including Jordan Strachan, an All-Sun Belt selection and the nation's leading sack artist.

During the 2019 season, Sutton focused primarily on special teams while also assisting with the inside linebackers and in the recruiting department.

Prior to his time at Georgia State, Sutton served as an intern at Georgia Tech during the 2018 season preparing opponent scouting reports for the defense.  Sutton has spent the entirety of his career in the state of Georgia as he began coaching in the high school ranks at Augusta Preparatory Day School (2014-2017).

Sutton is a native of DeKalb County in the metro Atlanta area.  He grew up in Tucker, and attended Marist School. Sutton was a walk-on linebacker at Vanderbilt University where he majored in history.
