2010-11 Highlights
Introduced himself to West Georgia with 19 points and seven rebounds in his UWG debut on November 12 against Southern Poly...First double-double came against Harding (16 pts, 10 rebs) on November 27...picked up his second one two nights later against #22 Arkansas Tech (15 pts, 11 rebs)...his putback with eight seconds left against ATU was the game-winner in a 66-65 victory, giving coach Cooney his first win over a ranked opponent...the two double-doubles and game-winner earned him Gulf South Conference East Division Player of the Week honors for December 1.
Overview
Sims comes to UWG following two standout seasons at City College of San Francisco, one of the nation’s top junior college programs.
Sims brings impressive credentials to the Wolves’ program. He helped lead his San Francisco team to back-to-back appearances in the final eight of the state tournament in the rugged California juco league. This includes a close loss in the 2010 title game, though Sims did earn a berth on the all-tournament team for his efforts.
As a freshman, Sims was named Coast-North Conference Player of the Year. He averaged a league best 14.8 points per game, to go along with seven rebounds per contest. Last season Sims averaged 12 points and six boards per contest as the team that posted a record of 28-5.
In high school, playing for coach Dwight Nathaniel, averaging 13 points and three rebounds per game.
