Longtime collegiate golf coach Todd Selders was promoted to the Director of Golf and Head Men's Golf Coach at the University of West Georgia in 2022, earning a promotion after six years as the head coach of both the men's and women's program.
Selders was first named UWG golf's leader following a nationwide search in the summer of 2017. Selders is the fifth head coach in school history for both the Wolves' men's and women's programs, and had one of his best season's on the women's side in 2020-21.
Last season in 2022, Selders guided the UWG men's team to a berth in the NCAA South/Southeast Regional where the team finished seventh. At that same tournament, Austin Fulton earned Individual Medalist Honors and made UWG history, becoming the first player in program history to qualify for NCAA Nationals. Fulton went on to finish inside the top-20 at that tournament at TPC Michigan.
In his fourth season, Selders guided the Wolves women's golf team to their second Gulf South Conference championship in school history as well as the NCAA Regional. At the top of his lineup was Ainsley Cowart who went on to be named the GSC Golfer of the Year and an All-American.
Selders comes to Carrollton after 20 plus years of collegiate coaching experience, most recently serving as the director of golf and head men's coach at Charleston Southern. He is currently a certified personal golf coach for the company Golftec in Dallas, Texas.
Under Selders, the men's team has seen continued success as Sam Jones reached the NCAA South/SE Super Regional as an indivudal and Selders also recruited UWG latest Gulf South Conference Freshman of the Year in Lucas Mota who the league's top freshman in 2019.
The women's team has also seen continued success under Selders. Franziska Bremm became on of the school's most decorated athletes ever under Selders' tutelage in 2019, being named the GSC's top athlete as the recipient of the Commissioner's Award. Bremm was also a four-time All-GSC selection and went to the NCAA South Super Regional all four years of her career.
Prior to landing at West Georgia, Selders made previous stops include West Texas College, Iowa, NC State, Coastal Carolina, and a 10 year stint as head coach at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. Selders' first collegiate coaching job was at Oklahoma where he served as the men's assistant coach from 1997-2000.
While at Charleston Southern, Selders led his team to a fourth place finish at the Big South Conference Championship after being picked ninth in the preseason polls.
Selders teams at NC State, Coastal Carolina and Southern Methodist all qualified for the NCAA Tournament, including a trip to four straight Regionals as the head coach for SMU from 2004-2008. In 2004, Selders was named Western Athletic Conference Coach of the Year and two years later was named the Conference-USA Coach of the Year in 2006.
Selders played collegiate golf at Central State in Edmond, Okla. where he competed all four years and earned a bachelor's degree in history. While he was coaching at SMU, Selders received a Master's degree in Arts.
