For UWG’s commitment to the health and safety of its student athletes to succeed it requires many elements working together. At the center of that effort is a top-flight, Assistant Athletic Director for Sports Medicine, Carri Stewart.

Even before her appointment to the post of head trainer, Stewart was no stranger to the UWG program. She came to West Georgia in 2000 in the role of assistant athletic trainer. In 2006 she departed for one season to serve on the staff of Newberry (S.C.) College, and then returned to an assistant position at West Georgia in 2007.

Stewart was elevated to the head trainer’s position in the spring of 2012. In that capacity she oversees the complete medical care and rehabilitative treatment regimen for every student-athlete in UWG’s 14-sport athletic program. As part of those duties, Stewart also serves as the primary athletic trainer for the Wolves’ soccer program program.

A native of Talladega, Ala., Stewart earned her bachelor’s degree from Troy University. She also earned her Master of Business Administration degree from West Georgia in 2010. She is married to Alex and they have a son, Jack.
