Katie Miller

Katie Miller returns in the fall of 2024 for her fourth season as the University of West Georgia assistant volleyball coach.

Miller joined the UWG staff in 2021 following two years as the assistant volleyball coach at Assumption High School in Louisville, Kentucky, along with serving as a coach for the Kentucky Indiana Volleyball Academy (KIVA), which is based out of Louisville.

Since coming to UWG, she has helped guide three UWG student-athletes to All-Gulf South Conference honors in her time at UWG. In the fall of 2023, Sydney Blackmon became a two-time All-GSC honoree, the first at West Georgia since Teresa Paini in 1994. In 2022, she also helped Emilee Harris to All-GSC honors as well.

In 2024, Miller helped guide UWG back to the GSC Tournament. As the recruiting coordinator, Miller brought in D1 transfer, Zoë LaBreche, who went on to become a First Team All-GSC selection in 2023, while also bringing in true freshman, Desha Van Veldhuizen, who recorded 780 assists in the 2023 season, leading to seven Freshman of the Week selections.

With a move to Division I set in stone, Miller signed one of the highest touted recruits in UWG Volleyball history as University of Alabama transfer, Victoria Schmer, made her move to West Georgia official for the 2024 season.

Miller received her degree in Anthropology from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2018 and earned her master’s degree in Sports Coaching and Leadership from Michigan State University in 2021.

During her playing days, Miller starred at IUP, closing her career in 2017 with one of the best single-season performances in program history.

Miller led the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and ranked No. 26 in Division II with 11.08 assists per set, which marked the seventh highest single-season total in IUP history.
