At the helm of the health and well being of UWG football is assistant athletic trainer, Ryan Smith. As the primary athletic trainer for football, Smith oversees a student staff to cover practices and games.
Smith is currently in his second stint at West Georgia. After graduating from GSC rival West Alabama with a Bachelor's Degree in Athletic Training, Smith earned his Master's of Education in Instructional Technology from West Georgia while serving as a graduate assistant in the UWG sports medicine department.
From 2017-2019, Smith was an assistant athletic trainer at Division I Marshall University where he worked with the football, softball, and cross country programs with the Thundering Herd.
Smith currently resides in nearby Newnan and is married to Sydney Moody-Smith. In his free time, Smith likes to play golf and ride his motorcycle.
