Coach Dyson comes to UWG with a lot of experience in track and field. Her last coaching position was at Sumter County High School in Georgia as the head coach of the cross country and track teams. At the helm, she was able to improve several of the team’s track and field records, increase state meet appearances in sprints,relays and jumps and increase championship standings from 8th place to 4th place while having a top 10 thrower in the state.
Prior to Sumter County High, she was the Head Track/Field and Cross Country Coach for Randolph Clay High School in Cuthbert, GA for four years. In her tenure, Coach Dyson was able to produce a top-10 cross country team in the state for Class A for the first time in their school’s history. She was also able to mentor consecutive individual region champions and state finalists in women’s triple jump, shot put, and high jump.Â
In 2023, she was selected to receive USATF’s Mentorship grant where she was extended the opportunity to increase her knowledge of track and field while shadowing Olympic Long Jump Champion Dwight Phillips and his athletes as they competed for the 2023 USA National team selection. She was also offered the opportunity to attend a celebratory brunch with the 2023 Legendary Coach of the Year, Bob Kersee.
Coach Dyson competed in sprints and jumps for the University of Texas-Arlington. As a USATF Masters athlete she became an All American and national champion in the long jump. Coach Dyson is also the former owner of S.W.GA All Stars, a youth track and field club in Georgia, where she coached several multis and jumps athletes to USATF’s Junior Olympic and National indoor level. Â
Coach Dyson has a Bachelor's degree in Integrative and Communicative Studies with a minor in Spanish Education, and a Masters in Secondary Education from the University of Phoenix. She is a certified USATF Level 2 coach in Jumps, Sprints/hurdles/relays/ and combined events and USTFCCCA weight training.Â
