Carrollton, GA - The 2012 UWG football season kicked off Saturday night at University Stadium in grand fashion, as the West Georgia squad opened the year with a 55-3 drubbing of the Point Skyhawks.
The Wolves' offense was clicking against the Skyhawk defense, particularly on the ground, where West Georgia gained 302 yards and scored five touchdowns. Nine different players ran the ball in the game, but the workhorse was sophomore tailback #
Seth Hinsley#, who had 111 yards on 17 carries and two scores on the night.
But despite the solid night, it took until the second UWG drive of the game for the Wolves to break through on the scoreboard. Following the opening kickoff, the two teams exchanged punts before West Georgia took over at the Skyhawk 33. Hinsley rumbled 27 yards on the first play, setting up a one-yard plunge from quarterback #
Austin Trainor# for the first score of the 2012 season.
