Carrollton, GA - There's no rest for the weary, as the Wolves, coming off of a gauntlet of Gulf South Conference games that included three of four contests against current teams ranked in the national polls and the fourth was against the 2013 GSC Co-Champions. The Wolves now take on Mississippi College Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at University Stadium.
* West Georgia emerged from that four-game span with a 2-2 record in that span. The Wolves are now 6-2 on the season and 2-2 in Gulf South Conference play heading into Saturday's contest against Mississippi College. The Choctaws come into the week with a 1-6 record overall and 0-4 against GSC competition in their first year back in the league.
* The Wolves are coached by Will Hall, who is in his first season at West Georgia. He has an overall record of 31-13 in his fourth year as a head coach. The head coach at Mississippi College is John Bland, who is in his first year as coach of the Choctaws.
* Mississippi College returns to Gulf South Conference after a 20-year hiatus, as the Wolves and Choctaws have met 12 times in the series history as GSC foes. MC holds an 8-4 advantage over UWG in the series, but West Georgia won the last meeting, 30-15, in the 1995 season.
* West Georgia comes into the game after a knock-down drag-out battle with 3rd-ranked North Alabama on the road last week. The Wolves took a 28-24 lead with just over six minutes left in the game, but UNA pulled out the 31-28 home victory with a touchdown pass with 44 seconds left on the clock. MC fell to second-year program Flordia Tech 44-9 in GSC action last week.
* When Will Hall was hired at UWG, he told the West Georgia fans at the initial press conference that to become a championship program, the Wolves would need to run the football. He has made good on that promise, as the Wolves enter the ninth game of the season as the top running team in the Gulf South Conference, averaging more than 250 yards per game on the ground.
* The place where the UWG coaching staff looked to shore up the most was on defense, as the Wolves were near the bottom of the conference last season defensively. This year is night and day, as West Georgia is at or near the top of nearly every defensive category, including total defense, rushing defense, passing defense and scoring defense.
