* West Georgia broke a streak and set a new standard with last week's 49-0 Homecoming victory over Johnson C. Smith. The Wolves' win marks the first time since the 2001 season that a UWG football team has started the season 3-0. The shutout was the second-straight, which is the first time in school history that West Georgia has produced back-to-back shutouts.

* The Wolves are coached by Will Hall, who is in his first season at West Georgia. He has an overall record of 28-11 in his fourth year as a head coach. Clark Atlanta's head coach is Kevin Weston, who is in his second season at CAU.

* Defense has been the name of the game thus far on the season, as the Wolves are averaging 8.7 points and 250 yards of total offense allowed per game on the year. West Georgia is second in the GSC in both categories, just behind preseason conference favorite North Alabama.

* It's safe to say that senior Denarius Appling has returned to his All-American form in his first year under Hall and the new UWG staff. The Griffin native scored twice last week and has a touchdown rushing, receiving and on a kickoff return on the year. He had a 30-yard touchdown reception as the first score of the game against JC Smith, then sparked a 42-0 demolition with a 96-yard kickoff return for a touchdown top open the second half of the Homecoming game.

* The UWG defense will be tested this week against a triple-option opponent in Clark Atlanta. The Wolves are tough against the run, giving up 69 yards per game on the ground, good for eighth in the nation. West Georgia has also given up no rushing touchdowns yet this season, one of only three teams among the top 25 rushing defenses in Division II with that distinction.

* The UWG rushing offense is averaging 272 yards per game, good for 13th nationally. The Wolves' top rushing performance came in week one, when the Wolves went for 392 yards against Mars Hill, but West Georgia has rushed for at least 200 yards in every game thus far.
