Carrollton, GA - The University of West Georgia football squad produced their second Gulf South Conference Offensive Player of the Week of the 2015 season Monday morning, as junior running back Lamarcus Franks was awarded the honor by conference officials in the weekly GSC release.

UWG football coach Will Hall continuously called Franks a special player that he couldn't wait for Wolves' fans to be able to see in action, but the Leakesville, Miss. running back injured his hamstring during preseason drills and was forced to work his way back onto the field to ensure that the injury was completely healed.

This past Saturday against Valdosta State was the first game where Franks carried the ball on a more full-time basis, and he impressed from the start with 17 carries for 172 yards in the contest. He also caught two passes for 30 yards and threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Devontae Jackson in front of a huge UWG crowd and a worldwide audience on ESPN3.

Franks is the second UWG player to win GSC Offensive Player of the Week honors, as senior quarterback Dallas Dickey was given the honor for his efforts against Fayetteville State earlier this season. The Wolves will be back in action on ESPN3 this weekend in the NCAA Division II Game of the Week at Delta State, with kickoff set for Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
