Football Preview: The DSU Game

Carrollton, GA - Week 7 brings yet another Gulf South Conference challenge to the 2nd-ranked West Georgia Wolves, as UWG will face the 15th-ranked Delta State Statesmen on the road in Cleveland, Miss. It will be the second of three-straight televised games for UWG, with this week's game billed as the ESPN3 D-II Game of the Week. Kickoff from Parker Field at McCool Stadium is set for 7:00 p.m. (EST).

It's 2-0 in the GSC thus far for the defending Super Region 2 champions in Gulf South Conference play, but the West Georgia Wolves have a long list of opponents waiting to knock off the No. 2 team in the country.

The Wolves are 6-0 overall on the season and last week's 49-28 victory over Valdosta State marked the 12th-straight home victory for West Georgia, including 10 in a row under head coach Will Hall. West Georgia is among the best in the nation both defensively and offensively, with senior quarterback Dallas Dickey leading the way to the Wolves averaging 45.2 points per game.

On the defensive side, the Wolves are allowing an average of 14.8 points per game while playing an average of more than 25 players per game on that side of the ball. Senior linebacker Marion Chapman has emerged as the Wolves' leader on defense, as the Division I transfer has 32 total tackles on the year, averaging 5.3 stops per game.

- Junior Lamarcus Franks had the Wolves' biggest rushing game of the season against Valdosta State last week, busting free from 172 yards on 17 carries. The 5-8, 175-pound running back had no lost yardage against VSU. It was the third 100-yard game on the year for a UWG back, with the other two going to redshirt freshman Aares McCall in the first two games of the year.
- Junior defensive end Dylan Donahue spent two games on the sidelines with an injury before coming back against West Alabama. In that game, he had a sack that forced a fumble that was picked up by Jason Carr and returned for a touchdown. Against VSU, he had three sacks, which put him into the team lead for sacks on the season.
- Dallas Dickey has been having a banner year at quarterback in his senior season, but last week against Valdosta State, he had one of his best days under center. The Carrollton native was 16-for-23 for 237 yards, his second-best yardage total at UWG. It was his seventh career game with 200 yards or more, with his best game coming last year against Florida Tech.
- Qa Walker has been the big-play threat for the Wolves throughout the season, as he has five of the top six longest pass plays of the season. That includes a 46-yard touchdown catch against VSU, the shortest of those five plays this year.
