Carrollton, GA - Head coach Will Hall and his West Georgia Wolves have a lot to be thankful for during this week of Thanksgiving. Including the fact that on Saturday at noon, UWG football will have a chance to something it has never done before as a Division II institution. And that is to play an NCAA Division II playoff game at home, as the Wolves will host the Valdosta State Blazers in Round 2 of the 2015 playoffs.

West Georgia bounced back nicely from the first loss of the season in the final week against Shorter, winning 35-9 and securing a share of the 2015 Gulf South Conferfence title and becoming league champions for the first time since the 2000 season.
The Wolves also secured the top seed in Super Region 2 for the 2015 NCAA Division II playoffs. That gave head coach Will Hall and his squad a bye week in last week's first round. West Georgia comes into the playoffs as the seventh-ranked team in the nation according to both the American Football Coaches Association and the media poll. The Wolves have a 10-1 record on the year, the second-best in UWG football history, regardless of division.
A school-record 17 Wolves were named All-Gulf South Conference at the conclusion of the 2015 season, setting a record for the second-straight season. UWG had the most First-Team performers with nine, including five on the defensive side and four offensive.

Harley Vaughan was named Second Team All-GSC after helping lead the Wolves to more than 2,500 yards on the season. West Georgia's backs took advantage of the big help up front, averaging 5.2 yards per carry on the year.
- Of the front six on the West Georgia defense, four players were named All-Conference. Junior defensive ends
Dylan Donahue and
Alex Armah were each named First Team, after combining for 16.5 sacks on the season and helping lead the Wolves to allowing just 135.6 yards per game on the season. Also a big part of those numbers were Second Team performers, linebackers
Marion Chapman and
Gabe Freeman.
- Freshman running back
Devontae Jackson jumped into the team lead in rushing yards with a career-high 167 yards on 21 carries against Florida Tech. He now has 790 yards on 106 carries on the season and is tied for the Gulf South Conference lead in average yards per carry with 7.5. He was named First Team All-GSC as an All-Purpose back, piling up 1,315 all-purpose yards this season and he is second on the team with nine touchdowns.
- Chapman and Freeman are a tough pair of linebackers, as the two have combined for nearly 100 tackles on the season. Both have an interception and are solid both against the run and the pass. Freeman's interception came first, as he had a pick against Valdosta while Chapman's interception came against Florida Tech.
