CARROLLTON, Ga. – It was a hard fought, evenly matched Gulf South Conference soccer matchup on Friday night in Carrollton, but an overtime goal from the visiting Christian Brothers Buccaneers was the demise of the Wolves in their return to University Field.
West Georgia (5-5, 3-4 GSC) had been away for back-to-back weekends but the return home was spoiled in overtime.
In the first half, UWG had seven shots to just five from Christian Brothers (7-4-1, 5-2-1), and trailed 1-0 at the break after a 28

As the clock wound down in the second half, UWG was looking for the equalizer and got it from
Lauren O'Neill in the 80

Kaylah Nichols found
Hillary Resendiz who then sent in a cross that found O'Neill who put it in the back of the net for her first career goal.
It would stay 1-1 through the end of regulation, and early into the first OT period until Amanda Dutra scored the game winner in overtime in the 94
th minute.
West Georgia had 16 shots on the day, but only got three on frame while CBU had 14 shots with six on target. It was a physical match with the teams combining for 25 fouls. UWG had 13 fouls in the game while CBU had 12.
