CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Georgia soccer dominated and controlled the game on Sunday everywhere but the final score as the Wolves fell 1-0 to the Union Bulldogs at home in Gulf South Conference action.
West Georgia (5-6-0, 3-5-0 GSC) rattled off 24 shots just six shots from the visiting Bulldogs (3-9-0, 3-7-0 GSC), and had six corner kicks to none by Union.
The Wolves had plenty off attacks, but were whistled for nine offsides on the afternoon, and ended the contest with six shots on goal to just three by the Bulldogs.
In the first half, West Georgia outshot Union 14-2, but couldn't find a goal, going into the halftime break scoreless. The frustration continued offensively into the second half and then the Bulldogs finally broke through, forcing a mistake from UWG.
It was the 66
th minute when a handball in the box gave Union a penalty chance, which was successfully converted by Hannah Patterson.
West Georgia had multiple chances in the final minutes, but never found a goal, dropping their fourth straight contest.
The Wolves will be home next weekend as well, opening up the action next Friday against Alabama Huntsville at 5 p.m.
