CARROLLTON, Ga. – Senior defensive back
Robert Carter was named an Associated Press Division II All-American this week, becoming UWG's 53
rd Division II All-American in program history.
Carter was one of seven Gulf South Conference players named to the AP All-American Team, earning Second Team honors.
A native of Lilburn, Carter spent just one season in the red and blue, helping UWG's defense rank second in the Gulf South Conference in total yards allowed. Carter made 30 tackles as a corner back and had two interceptions. Coupled with nine pass break-ups, Carter led the conference in passes defended.
Carter was also a First Team All-GSC selection at the conclusion of the season and was also a D2CCA All-SR2 Second Teamer.
It's been five years since a UWG player landed on the Associated Press All-American team, with Devontae Jackson and Harley Vaughan last earning the honor after the 2017 season.
